Abstract

Backround: Globally Iron deficienc anaemiahas been known to have negativeeffects of more than 2 billion people (WHO,2011).In addition,other studies have reported that anaemiacontributes to 20% of all maternaleaths (Tyaga, Kaushik & Ranga, 2016).

Objective: To identify maternal determinantsof Iron deficiency anaemia among pregnant women in migratory community, Narok county

Design: A cross sectional study design was adopted

Setting: Antenatal care clinic at Ewaso ngiro health centre

Study Participants: Pregnant women aged 15-49 years

Results:There was a statistical significance between age,education and parity status

Conclusion: Maternal determinants of IDA wereage, education and parity

Recommendation: There is need for a longitudinal study on the effect ofsocio-cultural practices on Iron deficiency naemia
